Buddy Oliver, son of renowned chef Jamie Oliver, launches his own cooking series on CBBC aimed at inspiring young chefs through fun and creative culinary activities.

Buddy Oliver Debuts New Cooking Show on CBBC

Buddy Oliver, the 12-year-old son of famous chef Jamie Oliver, has launched his own culinary series titled Cooking Buddies on CBBC. Buddy began his cooking journey at the age of four, inspired by his father’s expertise. The show aims to engage children in cooking by combining culinary skills with other activities like dancing and football.

Each episode of Cooking Buddies features Buddy helping kids create their favorite dishes while they share their talents with him. The program includes practical cooking techniques that are easy for viewers of all ages to follow.

Key Cooking Tips from Buddy Oliver:

  1. Safe Chopping with ‘The Claw’: This technique is used for chopping vegetables like carrots and celery safely. Buddy advises curling fingers into a claw shape and using the knuckles as a guide.

  2. Enhanced Breadcrumbs: Buddy enhances the flavor of breadcrumbs used in recipes by adding ingredients like garlic or cheddar cheese.

  3. Homemade Pasta: Emphasizing simplicity, Buddy shows how to prepare pasta using only flour, egg, and salt.

  4. Creative Pancakes: Buddy suggests waiting for bubbles to form before flipping pancakes and recommends adding ingredients like spinach directly into the batter for extra flavor and nutrients.

  5. Removing Eggshells: Use a larger piece of eggshell to scoop out fragments from a bowl, a cleaner and quicker method.

  6. Jam Jar Salad Dressing: Buddy demonstrates making salad dressing by shaking the ingredients in a jam jar.

  7. Bread without Yeast: Buddy shows that bread can be made without yeast by using basic ingredients like flour, water, and salt, with an optional addition of yoghurt for extra flavor.

Buddy’s practical tips and engaging presentation make Cooking Buddies a unique and educational show, inspiring young viewers to explore the culinary world.

Jamie Oliver’s New Series on Channel 4

Jamie Oliver, Buddy’s father, has also launched a new series called Jamie: What to Eat This Week on Channel 4. The program focuses on seasonal cooking, featuring recipes that utilize fresh summer ingredients such as fennel, peas, carrots, and beetroot.

In the first episode, Jamie demonstrates recipes like roast loin of pork with fennel and bean gratin, pea risotto, and rainbow salad wraps. He emphasizes the benefits of seasonal cooking, suggesting it is more environmentally friendly and cost-effective.

Jamie: What to Eat This Week is part of Jamie Oliver’s year-long series dedicated to cooking with seasonal ingredients, with future episodes planned for autumn and winter.

Both Buddy and Jamie Oliver continue to inspire audiences with their passion for cooking, each in their unique styles.
