Burger King to Honour New Drivers with Free Burgers on National Drive-Thru Day

In celebration of National Drive-Thru Day, Burger King is offering newly qualified drivers a special treat: a free Whopper or Chicken Royale. This unique promotion will run for one day only, on Wednesday, 24 July, across all Burger King drive-thrus in the UK.

To claim their free burger, new drivers need to show their ‘L’ plates at the drive-thru and say “BK Plates” when placing their order. This initiative is designed to encourage confidence in new drivers, acknowledging that navigating a drive-thru can sometimes be a daunting experience for the uninitiated.

A spokesperson for Burger King explained the rationale behind the offer, noting that “sometimes navigating a drive-thru for the first time can be tricky and leave them feeling like a rabbit in the headlights”. By providing this offer, Burger King aims to make the experience more enjoyable and less stressful for new drivers.

In a bid to further assist these new drivers, Burger King has collaborated with driving instructor and social media influencer DGN Driving. Together, they have produced a video sharing top tips to help new drivers transition from “zero to drive-thru hero”. Some of the practical advice includes turning down the car’s music upon entering the drive-thru, having your order ready beforehand to avoid delays, speaking clearly to ensure the order is correct, and waiting until you’ve parked safely before enjoying your meal.

The offer for a free Whopper or Chicken Royale is limited to Wednesday, 24 July, and is available only while stocks last. New drivers need to show their ‘L’ plates and mention “BK Plates” at any participating Burger King drive-thru to redeem the offer.

As part of this initiative, Burger King hopes to make National Drive-Thru Day memorable for new drivers, while providing them with a sense of achievement and confidence behind the wheel.

For new drivers, this represents an opportunity not only to enjoy a free meal but also to practise their driving and ordering skills in a real-world scenario.

The celebration of National Drive-Thru Day encourages safe and confident driving while providing a delicious incentive from one of the world’s favourite fast-food chains.
