Santa Teresa 1796 introduces its Arabica Coffee Cask Finish, merging high-quality Venezuelan rum with organically grown Arabica coffee and unveiling a refreshed brand identity.
Santa Teresa Launches Innovative Rum Finished in Coffee Casks
HAMILTON, Bermuda – Santa Teresa 1796, Venezuela’s oldest rum producer, has introduced a groundbreaking new product: Santa Teresa Arabica Coffee Cask Finish. This new expression celebrates the blend of high-quality Venezuelan rum and organically grown Arabica coffee. The product also marks the debut of Santa Teresa’s refreshed brand visual identity, aimed at honouring its deep-rooted traditions while embracing a modern look.
The Arabica Coffee Cask Finish builds upon the quality of the acclaimed Santa Teresa 1796 rum. Known for its triple aging process via the Solera method and minimal sugar content, this rum now undergoes an additional three-month maturation in American white oak casks. These barrels were previously used to age a rum-based cold brew coffee, allowing the spirit to absorb rich coffee aromas and flavours without the need for additives.
The production begins at Hacienda Santa Teresa, where premium Arabica beans are organically grown. These beans are then coarsely ground and medium roasted under the guidance of the brand’s master distillers. The beans are used to brew coffee using 4-year-old rum instead of water, which is then aged in oak barrels for six months. Following this process, the cold brew is removed, and Santa Teresa 1796 rum is introduced to the coffee-infused barrels, where it rests for an additional three months to develop its unique character.
The end product is a rum distinguished by its depth and richness, featuring notes of oak, cacao nibs, and distinctive coffee flavours. This versatile spirit can be enjoyed neat, on the rocks, or in popular cocktails such as the Old Fashioned, Carajillo, and Espresso Martini. The trend for coffee-based cocktails, which has seen significant growth over the past year, underscores the relevance of Santa Teresa’s new rum in the contemporary market.
“We are thrilled to introduce the Arabica Coffee Cask Finish as the latest addition to our Cask Finish Series,” said Alberto Vollmer, CEO of Santa Teresa Rum. “This expression exemplifies our dedication to innovation while honouring our rich Venezuelan heritage. By combining the finest coffee and rum from Venezuela, we have created a blend that offers unparalleled depth and character.”
In conjunction with the new product release, Santa Teresa has unveiled a refreshed brand identity. The updated look aims to better convey the unique Solera method used in their rum production and to tell the brand’s rich history and traditions. The new packaging design includes a canister detailing the production process, a new logo, family signature, and wax drip seal.
Santa Teresa, a family-owned operation for five generations, produces its rums at the historic Hacienda Santa Teresa in Venezuela. The brand is committed not only to quality but also to supporting local communities through initiatives like Project Alcatraz, a social reintegration program.
Santa Teresa Arabica Coffee Cask Finish is now available both in-store and online.
