Pret A Manger announces a significant overhaul of its coffee subscription service, reducing the offerings and prices while aiming to enhance overall value for customers.
Pret A Manger Overhauls Coffee Subscription Model
Pret A Manger has announced significant changes to its Club Pret coffee subscription service, ending the current deal that offers customers five barista-made drinks daily for £30 per month. Starting in September, the new subscription will provide up to five half-priced drinks per day for £10 monthly, considerably reducing the previous value. Existing and new subscribers will benefit from a £5 monthly fee until March 31, 2025, before it doubles.
The 20% discount on food for subscribers will also be discontinued to eliminate dual pricing, a practice the company’s UK Managing Director Clare Clough stated Pret “never really got comfortable with.” Instead, Pret aims to offer better overall value, given that the majority of its customers are not Club Pret subscribers.
Additionally, the prices for Pret’s filter coffee and all butter croissant will be reduced to 99p and £1.99, respectively.
The changes follow the implementation of restrictions earlier this year to prevent the sharing of subscription benefits, which had been exploited through loopholes. These advancements align with rising coffee bean costs and aim to streamline Pret’s offerings to consumers.
