TELUS unveils its Email Protection Service Advanced, leveraging AI and Check Point’s technology to deliver a 99.7% phishing detection rate and extend protection across email and collaboration tools in Canada.
TELUS has introduced its Email Protection Service Advanced, claiming it delivers the highest level of email security available today with a phishing detection rate of 99.7%, surpassing traditional email defence mechanisms. This service, now available to Canadian businesses, leverages Check Point’s Harmony Email & Collaboration technology to offer a comprehensive shield for email and collaboration platforms.
According to Carey Frey, Chief Security Officer at TELUS, the partnership with Check Point is designed to provide customers with cutting-edge protection that adapts to the fast-evolving cyber threat landscape. He emphasised the importance of proactive security, stating that the service helps organisations not just keep up with cyber threats but stay ahead of them in an increasingly digital environment.
A key distinction of TELUS’s offering lies in its approach to security. Unlike conventional solutions, which typically scan emails after delivery, the TELUS Email Protection Service Advanced employs patented low-latency technology to intercept and block threats before they reach a user’s inbox. This cloud-native solution integrates seamlessly with widely-used platforms such as Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace. Additionally, it extends protection beyond email to cover collaboration applications including Teams, SharePoint, Slack, and Dropbox, addressing the broader landscape of business communication tools.
David Meister, Global Head of Managed Security Provider (MSP) at Check Point, highlighted the persistent vulnerability of email as an entry point for cybercriminals. He noted the increasing use of artificial intelligence by attackers to craft sophisticated phishing campaigns and stressed the necessity for AI-driven defences that can preemptively stop threats. This aligns with the advanced AI and machine learning techniques embedded within Check Point’s Harmony Email & Collaboration service, which detects and blocks a range of risks including zero-day exploits, account takeovers, data leakage, and SaaS shadow IT activities.
Industry data from Check Point’s Harmony suite suggests that such AI-powered defences can reduce phishing attacks reaching the inbox by over 99%, while also safeguarding cloud collaboration environments comprehensively. The software does more than email filtering – it offers malicious file protection, data loss prevention, and continuous compliance support across cloud platforms like Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Slack, and Dropbox, ensuring that organisations’ collaborative workflows remain secure.
The TELUS solution, therefore, represents not just an upgrade in email security but a holistic approach to protecting the wider cloud ecosystem enterprises depend on. As cyber threats grow in sophistication, businesses are increasingly prioritising integrated security solutions that encompass both traditional communication channels and the dynamic cloud collaboration tools critical for modern workforces.
