A recent survey conducted in Hungary has revealed that there is a growing interest in cryptocurrencies among the population, with many Hungarians eager to learn more about the long-term investment opportunities presented by digital assets. However, concerns about associated risks and insufficient information in the native language are hindering the adoption of cryptocurrencies in the country.
According to the survey, conducted by Binance and Opinio, a majority of Hungarians still perceive crypto investments as risky and are worried about the lack of information available in Hungarian. Those who are hesitant about investing in cryptocurrencies cite concerns about privacy and security as major deterrents.
Despite these concerns, there is a significant portion of the population that is open to exploring crypto investments and are seeking more information about how profits are taxed, as well as the regulations that govern such investments. The survey found that 86% of participants had never used cryptocurrency, while only 4% were occasional users. However, there is a small percentage of individuals who view crypto assets as a potential source of additional income.
Even among those who do not currently invest in cryptocurrencies, there is a high level of awareness about Bitcoin, with a majority of cryptocurrency traders preferring to buy bitcoin followed by ethereum investors. The survey also highlighted that Hungarians are interested in understanding both domestic and international regulations that apply to trading cryptocurrencies.
The representative online poll was conducted in December and included 1,034 respondents between the ages of 18 and 59 who owned a smartphone. Gender, education level, and place of residence were also taken into consideration when gathering the data. Overall, the survey indicates that there is a growing curiosity about cryptocurrencies in Hungary, but more education and information in the local language are needed to increase adoption and awareness among the population.
