Abstract

An abstract is something that exists in thought as an idea, but doesn’t have physical or even concrete actuality. It can also be seen as a summary of points that are usually presented in skeletal form. An abstract can be something that can actually summarize or even concentrate the essential aspects of a larger thing or several things. 

The abstract is actually a word that comes from a Latin word that means pulled away or detached, and the idea is that something is detached from physical, or concrete reality.
