Google has begun rolling out Gemini 3, its most advanced AI model, across parts of Google Search. The move brings a substantial boost to AI Overviews and AI Mode, with a model widely hailed as a match for ChatGPT\u2019s latest generation and expected to close a long-standing quality gap in Google\u2019s search-embedded AI. <\/p>\n
The update signals a push to make Google\u2019s AI answers more reliable, more consistent and more useful \u2013\u00a0and consequently more of a challenge to news providers.<\/p>\n
Nick Fox, Google\u2019s senior vice president of knowledge and information, confirmed the deployment on X, saying the company is now using \u201cintelligent automatic model routing\u201d to send tougher questions to Gemini 3 Pro. Subscribers to Google AI Pro and Ultra in the United States are the first to see the change, which appears as a selectable option in the AI Mode menu.<\/p>\n
Launched earlier this month, Gemini 3 is designed to deliver deeper reasoning and stronger multimodal performance. Google describes it as a full expression of the Gemini family\u2019s capabilities, offering more nuance when handling layered or open-ended requests.<\/p>\n
Its impact is most visible in Google\u2019s generative search interface, which now supports dynamic visuals, interactive tools and tailored simulations. Users can receive anything from scientific models to practical calculators, with the system deciding in real time which tools best suit the query.<\/p>\n
Beyond Search, Gemini 3 powers updates to the Gemini app, including a redesigned mobile layout and a My Stuff tab for managing images and videos. AI Ultra subscribers gain access to the Gemini Agent, which can run multi-step tasks such as organising email or booking travel with minimal prompts.<\/p>\n
AI Ultra costs $249.99 per month in the US and unlocks Gemini 3 Pro and the forthcoming Deep Think Mode. Google positions the latter as a higher-intelligence option for intensive use cases, including creative work and software development.<\/p>\n
Gemini 3 has drawn attention outside Google as well. Salesforce chief executive Marc Benioff has switched from OpenAI\u2019s ChatGPT to Gemini 3, praising improvements in reasoning, speed and multimedia output. His endorsement, echoed by other industry figures, has added to pressure on OpenAI as it fields criticism of GPT-5 and recent changes to its product line.<\/p>\n
For Google, the incremental release marks a bid to redefine how search works by pairing language understanding with generative visuals and task execution.
